CC Blooms refurbishment
Near the end of 2011, owners Mitch and Tim finally got the green light for a massive refurbishment of level 1. The aim – to turn CC’s into a ‘chameleon bar’ – a stylish bar during the day whilst still having the club feel at night.
The club itself has been stripped back to basics. Original stone and brick work will feature throughout the bar. A large window on the rear wall has been opened up again after years of being hidden, drawing huge amounts of natural light into the bar and providing views onto Edinburgh’s Calton Hill. The ceilings which had previously been lowered, have been raised back to their original height creating an amazing feeling of space. The works have also uncovered some truly beautiful original features of the building including three great arches that catch your eye the minute you walk in the door.
New opening hours will be Monday – Saturday 11am-3am, and Sunday 12:30pm – 3am.
CC’s will be serving quality branded drinks, a great cocktail menu and a selection of wines and champagnes to cater for every palate. There is food service everday until 9pm with dishes ranging from sharing platters and tapas to full meals (see menu). Various discounts are available such as 25% off the all day menu for Vue Cinema and Playhouse Theatre ticket holders. A range of coffees and teas are also on offer.
Entertainment.
CC Blooms have a team of DJs playing 7 nights a week playing everything from chart and cheese, to club classics and dance remixes.
Weekly club nights:
Tuesday – ‘Pop Du Jour’ Dj Chris Paton plays a totally eclectic set of tunes from past and present, whilst also taking requests from customers.
Thursday – ‘Camp’ Dejay Bird takes the dance floor back to the grass roots of gay clubbing. Hi-NRG, Stock Aitken & Waterman, Disco, Boy bands, Girl bands and anything that has a dance routine!

Monthly club nights :
1st Friday of the month – ‘ELECTROsexual’ Filthy Electro, Remixes, Bootlegs & Mashups provided by Dj Lucky Luciano and guests.
Last Friday of the month – ‘Seduction’ A new night brought to CC’s by Dj Shelle la Belle. Pulsating bass lines and uplifting rhythms with sexy vocal house and club classics.
2nd Saturday of the month – ‘Automatic’ – a mix of electro, disco, house and everything in between from resident Dj Jon Pleased Wimmin.
The Church of High Kicks.
CC’s have launched an exciting new take on the typical ‘lazy Sunday afternoon’. Legendary DJ Jon Pleased Wimmin hosts ‘The Church of High Kicks’. This afternoon into early evening show will include drag, comedy, music and some fun and games too. The aim is to provide somewhere for people to relax, meet up and discuss the antics from the previous evening, whilst still being able to have a few drinks, enjoy themselves and have that ‘night out’ feeling whilst still being able to retire to bed at a normal time for work on a Monday!
At the moment, nowhere in Edinburgh offers this kind of afternoon entertainment – a missed opportunity we feel.
We also host foam parties during the summer, and have a great relationship with the ‘BearScots’ group who have included CC Blooms as a main venue during their annual ‘Bearfest Weekend Event’.
The Future :
Having had so many years of success already, we simply want CC Blooms to keep on providing the Edinburgh gay scene with a venue they can feel safe in, a venue they can relax in and most importantly a venue where they can have the best time of their life, every day of the week.
CC Blooms is gay owned and gay run for gay people. We want it to remain that way.
